Columbus Foodie

I went to the farmer’s market for the first time in weeks, and wow, what a take. I need to put stuff away and take a few pictures, but just wanted to do a quick mention of some of the stuff I got today:

• Ohio sweet corn
• Strawberries (?!?) - fall variety
• Baby watermelons
• Seedless watermelon
• Eightball squash
• Hardneck garlic
• Spaghetti squash
• Leek
• Pink Fleshed Potatoes
• Peaches
• 2 varieties of apple
• Poblano peppers
• Heirloom tomatoes
• Plus much more, all to be detailed later.

I love late August/early September. I wish I lived in an area that could grow veggies year-round. Unfortunately, what this means is that winter is around the corner. One of these years, I’ll need to teach myself how to do home canning so I can taste September tomatoes in January.
