I like to participate in a lot of food events, not limited to ones put on by the food blogging community. One of the current events I’m involved in is Recipezaar’s Pick a Chef event. Basically, what happens is that someone adopts me (a newbie) and prepares and reviews three of my recipes that I have listed on the Recipezaar web site, and in turn, I pick someone and prepare and review three of their recipes.
I picked a chef named Cynna, and chose 3 of her dishes to prepare. This is the first: Jalapeno Macaroni and Cheese Casserole. As I am known to do with recipes, I made a couple of substitutions (poblanos instead of jalapeno, whole wheat shells instead of elbows) and added a little more spice, but all in all it was a very solid macaroni and cheese dish. With it, I served some breaded and fried chicken wings from North Market Poultry and Game. Simple and quick, but comfort food at its finest.
Two more dishes to go, which I’ll present here sometime this month.
