I made this dish for my girlfriend's birthday and it got rave reviews. The flavor is wonderful. I didn't change a thing in the recipe and will definately be making this dish for many more of the guests my husband and I love to entertain.

[...] Last night’s dinner came by way of my daily visit’s to some other great foodie blogs. I spied this recipe while reading the food blog written by Columbus Foodie, another Ohioan as myself with a great blog full of recipes and interests from Columbus, a great city. You can find her recipe and pictures here. I have made this pasta dish many times before and I am always looking for a new adaption to try. I loved this one because of the addition of the sweet Italian sausage. This recipe is always quick to put together and with just browning the sausage and adding the other ingredients, it just requires a quick simmer while the pasta cooks and then it is ready to serve. I served it with just a crusty bread and some parmesan to sprinkle on top. I followed this recipe as is except that I subbed some half & half for the heavy whipping cream, when I do this I just add it at the end to warm a bit so it won’t break in the sauce, it has always worked well for me and with a little less fat it won’t hurt the taste, it is still creamy and velvety just as I always remember it. I will definitely keep this recipe in my files and bring it back out when I crave this pasta dish again.
Mmm. I just made this last month with bacon instead of sausage, and the leftovers are lurking in the freezer.
I'll admit, I'm kind of afraid to defrost it. It's hard for me to control myself around this sauce.

This looks great, I haven't made Penne Al a Vodka in a long time, and I am liking the addition of the sausage, I think this might be on my menu in the coming week or so!
