We just got back from dinner at the reopened Sher-E-Punjab. The menu is the same as before and the food is good, but not quite as good as the previous incarnation. My korma had the same blend of flavors, but was not quite as creamy. The vindaloo also tasted much the same, but the sauce was thinner and a little oily. Still, we are happy to have Sher-E-Punjab back and look forward to trying more items on the menu.

P.S. The buffet is now served in the restaurant facility and the old buffet facility has been replaced by a wig store.

Sher-E-Punjab has reopened in its old spot! The food is as delicious as ever. I was unable to get specifics about the abrupt reopening from our newly hired waitress. Everything tasted the same. I overate (as usual) but I am happy as hell! Just sharing the love.

I loved this place! Unfortunately it closed down about 3 months ago with no warning. I've been too heartbroken to go see if anything opened in it's place. I guess they got hit by the bad economy. :(

Oh well, Dosa Corner (like the above poster said) is awesome too, just in a different (and rather fattening) way.

If you like Indian... almost right across the street from Sher-e-Punjab is a hole-in-the-wall called Dosa Corner. It is Southern Indian (less common than the Northern Indian fare you usually find) vegetarian cuisine. Their dosas are huge and you can order them filled them with all sorts of good stuff. They have a decent-sized menu overall. We were close to a Southern Indian couple and spent 2 years eating their homemade food... this is the only thing that we've found that even comes close.

Having lived in DC for 5 years and having been spoiled as it relates to Indian food, I have found Sher E Pun Jab to be my favorite. I also think the manager is super nice! SarahE (http://laptopsandoliveoil.blogspot.com/)

Thankfully, Sher-e-Punjab is only three minutes from our condo. But lately, I have to admit that for take out, we've been trekking up to Curry and Kebab (near High and Blake) in the north campus area. The food is amazing and very cheap. Comparably quality and half the price.

lots of vegetarian dishes--this is one of our favorites as well. And also was a favorite of the late French mime, Marcel Marceau. Took him to dinner here when he was in residence at Ohio State several years ago, and he insisted on returning.

I love the Monday night dinner buffet at Sher-E-Punjab; they always have saag paneer and chicken korma (two of my favorites) and last time we got to try goat roganjosh. (They usually have plenty of vegetarian items, and Tuesday night the buffet is all vegetarian.)
