WORST BBQ EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE, and perhaps... the worst BBQ in the Union. While it's true that Ohioans know nothing about BBQ, this establishment should not be found passable by even the least educated. Foodie expressed that, "The brisket was the best I’ve had outside of Tennessee", which is unfortunate, as the brisket was advertised as Texas style, and should be compared to as such. As Glass City BBQ is, most likely, the worst BBQ in the world, you should now know what to expect from Texas, which is in fact, the best. That is why Texas... has been blessed by God himself.

My Review

"Texas-style" Beef Brisket - No smoke ring. No smoke ring = not smoked. In fact, a ring of fat was still present around the perimeter. When I attempted to (gasp) cut the brisket, yes cut, my fork bounced off and went flying through the air. If you know brisket, if you've been to a proper BBQ, then you'd know the meet should have gently fallen apart and melted in your mouth. In reality, this amounted to a piece of microwaved roast beef that in fact, was indigestible, and barely edible.

1/4 BBQ Chicken - Interestingly, the chicken DID have a smoke ring. Though, not much of one, and it still lacked the smoky sweet taste or scent one would have expected. It was also smothered in a generic, but tasty BBQ sauce. At first it looked promising, but, like the brisket, it was a dry, disappointing disaster. Fortunately it was edible with copious amounts of beer washing it down.

Pulled Pork - The pulled pork would have been delicious if it had not been so dry. It soaked up BBQ sauce like a sponge, and lacked a strong smoky flavor. Overall, it was mediocre but recommended if your life depended on eating here.

Potato Salad - Generic, probably store bought. Tasty, but nothing special. Edible.

Baked Beans- Generic, probably store bought. Not much meat, if any, and lacking in any character. This is what you would expect from a can of baked beans.

Beer Battered Onion Rings - Beer batter anything and it's going to be good. Unless of course, you put so much batter on the onion that you're left with a perfectly crisp outside and a grease saturated dough ball inside. What you have then my friends, is a big bunch of gooey disgusting shit that my dog wouldn't even eat. Which is exactly what you should expect from the menu at Glass City.

Rating - 1/2 star (The food finally passed through my system 12 hours later so I had to give it credit for being edible)

Pros - There's draft beer at the bar. Notice I'm not mentioning the food.

Cons - An indigestable bowling ball of food in your gut.

I stopped there yesterday on the way home from California. I won't mince words, I will just say that it was simply the worst bbq I've ever had. My cousin agreed. I ordered brisket, which came in very thin slices, and had to be forcefully cut with a knife. Anybody who knows bbq knows that brisket should come in 1/4-1/2" slices and should be easily seperated with only a fork. I can't even guess what kind of meat this was. Also, the girl working there was a complete idiot. She asked if California was on a 12 hour time difference from Ohio.

Darling B.J. No...We did not get fired from Glass city BBQ., and in no way is this meant to hurt anyone, its just the truth. Are you maybe the owner? Anyway sounds to me like you may be an investor in this business. Have you been there? Maybe you are the person who is always drunk on the floor. Unless you know any facts about this business, you really should re-think about eating there!!!

Yeah I guess I am a masochist (sp). I really love BBQ and normally just cook at home; however, I really did think the place wsa going to get better over time. I sort of feel that the bar is where they make most of their money because we were there recently for a private party (I ate before I went) and the bar was rockin'. Anyway, I would love to see a family BBQ joint around Lancaster that is truly BBQ and not a steak house pretending to do BBQ like Texas Roadhouse, Etc.

This sounds not like a warning but rather a resentful backlash! Did you happen to get fired from Glass City perhaps? Here is some advice for you, slander causes lawsuits!
