To make the cucumber vodka, take cucumbers (not the kind with waxy skins!), slice them up, take out the seeds, and add to vodka (since vodka is a neutral spirit, price tends not to matter as much as # of times distilled; I used Platinum vodka, 7x distilled. Tito's would be another good choice.) Ratio about one cucumber per fifth of vodka. Let sit in cool dark place. I let it sit for over three weeks, which I think was a bit too long -- it had a strong vegetal taste to it and really needed to be cut with something. Maybe a week and a half. Remove cucumbers, strain if necessary, add seltzer and ice, and enjoy.

n.b. last time I was in Surly Girl they had a cucumber-infused peach vodka on offer that was nice. They only infuse the cucumbers for a single day, but it's still noticeable.

The hard cider came from windy hill apple farm in Newark. http://www.charliesapples.com/

The non-alcholic cider came from Legend Hills Orchard in Utica. They have a great farm shop with a wide variety of fresh and preserved items. http://www.legendhillsorchard.com/
I picked it up on the way, it is only a couple of miles from the Flying J farm.
