After brining it. 12 hours later and the stuffing STILL wasn’t at a safe temperature. And the brine had made everything (turkey, stuffing, and gravy made from the drippings salty. Never again. Went back to my cheap supermarket frozen bird the next year.

I think a good cook can make a cheap Turkey taste fantastic, but a bad cook won't make an expensive bird taste any better.

I too agree with you about the turkey. I went organic one year and nobody seemed to enjoy it as much as the regular store-bought turkeys...go figure. What do you do with the leftovers?

We also got one of those cheap $.29/lb turkeys. Instead of cooking it in the oven, this year we used a roaster that sits on the counter. Best turkey we ever made and we had the oven free to use for side dishes.
