I'm one of those people with an uncommon appetite. The potato salad was just okay because it didn't have enough character. As for the desserts, the brownie was of the not-too-sweet variety and moist which I prefer; the cheesecake, to me, was exceptional, possessing just the right amount of heft and tang with a delicate crust

Boyfriend loves the place, so I thought I'd give it a try. He got the Todd, his favorite, and I went with the Reuben (they call it something else) and some coleslaw. My sandwich was okay, but not almost ten dollars worth of sandwich (a little bag of chips also came with). And the coleslaw was TERRIBLE. It tasted like they just plopped some mayo on; no seasoning or flavor, just mayo coated cabbage. BLEH. For a little over $25 I expected waaayyyy better food. I won't be back..

My friend and I recently visited the New York Deli. We liked the quality of the food very much. Between us we had the potato salad, The Mandy, The Todd, a shared brownie, and a slice of cheesecake. Although my friend was satisfied with The Mandy, The Todd was nowhere big enough for a "biggest sandwich"--I'm one of those people with an uncommon appetite. The potato salad was just okay because it didn't have enough character.
I happen to have a takeout menu right here so I don't have to stretch my memory or imagination to describe The Buddha Bowl--"pan seared organic tofu or roasted chicken (I had the chicken), long-grain organic brown rice with peanut sauce and bright vegetables.
I know what you mean by the $$$--I was with a group of women that are not bothered by cost and they all had $4.50 smoothies and a $3.00 cookie along with their burgers, etc...I like to keep lunch under $10--
Sure enjoy your website..keep up the good work!

I guess it depends on what you're ordering - the only thing we've had so far that we weren't crazy about was the chicken tortilla soup, but then again, we haven't branched out TOO much in the sandwich ordering department. If you ever get back up that way, try The Todd if you're into Italian subs at all - it truly is spectacular, I promise.

I love Northstar, but haven't been there for ages - I love their veggie burger but when it passed the $10 mark I couldn't justify it anymore. What is this Buddha Bowl you speak of? :)

I stopped at The New York Deli for the first time about a week ago--had a tuna on sourdough bread--gave the tuna salad maybe a B- and the sourdough bread was just plain awful..The owner was very nice BUT really didn't think much of the food..Almost forgot did order a side of potato salad and it was worthy of ordering again, imho...Left paying $10.95 where I coulda/shoulda gotten a veggie at Subway for $5!!
Now ask me about the North Star on High--ate there yesterday had a Buddha Bowl-yum!! yum!!
